The RPOD Critic
Whether we like a Traffic Exchange or not is a personal thing however some fundamentals are essential to us all. RPOD has developed a matrix of its own to measure how Traffic Exchanges (TE) perform and what they ultimately offer FREE members. Something that not only rests with surf ratios and bonuses but includes the way a TE is presented, its user-friendliness (including emails and regular contact) as well the tools supplied to help members promote it. Additionally the ability to load a page can vary and will impact on the surf timer and therefore increase the amount of effort a surfer expends although this not always attributable to the site, it is something everyone has to consider.

RPOD tests each Traffic Exchange using two different browsers for two separate 15 minute surf sessions. The browsers we are indicated and usually comprise two of the three mentioned here: Internet Explorer 7, Mozilla Firefox and Crazy Browser. The same PC is used to carry out the tests for reasons of consistency.

1 - Networking Capability (NC) = 1 point (This relates to the opportunities offered to create online contacts.)
2 - Stickiness (S) = 1 point
(This relates to a TE's ability to maintain a healthy membership because people want to return again and again.)
3 - Individualism (I) = 1 point
(This relates to a TE adopting a presentation that makes it as exclusive as possible.)
4 - Surfing Experience (SE) = 1 point (
This relates to the return for effort and uses measures such as time, bonuses and overall credits earned in a 15 minutes period.)
5 - Surfing Content (SC) = 3 points
(This relates to the displays allowed - a loss of points reflects the inclusion of dead pages not weeded out, gambling, pornographic, extremist sites and an overly high proportion of pages not given time to load properly)
6 - Support Contact & Tools (SCT) = 2 points
(This relates to the efforts made by the Traffic Exchange owner/s to provide fresh information (i.e. newsletters) and software that help members build referrals and community spirit.)
The Total at the end shows the number of points accredited against the potential that could be awarded (e.g. 8.5/9).

Traffic Muscles

SURFING EXPERIENCE
A three framed surf browser set-up is never going to match the speed of a two frame however because the timer at Traffic Muscles is set to 8 seconds it does cope better than might be expected. Also the delivery of pages to the display is rapid because the timer never appears to falter which allows for surfers to click promptly every 8 seconds for a new display. Add to that a regular input of bonus credits and its easy to see why Traffic Muscles appears popular.

The Parting Shot:
The Vikings are coming!

A consequence of a rapid 8 seconds timer is the inability of standard pages to load. The splash pages don't have a problem and make the session usefully quick, but although it is possible to surf 76 pages the surfer only really gets to see about a third clearly. Something found at Big League Hits was a preponderance of messages from the owner telling members to use splash pages because they load more quickly. The Big League Hits membership pays attention and surfing is a pleasure as a result, not only because the timer (10 seconds) is nippy but also because surfers get to see what other members are promoting. Traffic Muscles is geared for speed surfing but the price is high for those members using standard pages of which there are many. Traffic Muscles proves the argument that splash pages must be adopted by affiliates as soon as possible if they want them seen at sites with low surf timer thresholds.
